God is Sovereign in Your Life.

The Lord uses many different ways and many different means to teach us, grow us, and change us into His image. When we are in the midst of trial or change we often do not know what the Lord is doing. What we must remember though, is that He is good! He works all things according to the counsel of His will, for His glory. It is so important that we trust in Him. You will find that the one who truly commits their way to the Lord will soon be blessed by Him. You will find that even though the way is narrow and the road is hard and sometimes heart-wrenching, the blessing that you will receive from God for honouring Him is better, greater, and far more wonderful than you could ever imagine.

The Lord uses the trial to change us, and show us that He indeed has a far more magnificent plan for our lives. He is as a tender father who says, “Oh my child, you have strayed from my ways. Come back to me! Come, and I will show you what I have in store for you. Come and I will bless you with blessings greater than you can image.” To those children of His who realize they have erred and, upon hearing His call run back to Him…indeed, they will have great blessing. The Lord desires us to obey, even when we don’t understand, even when it’s hard, even when it seems as though life will fall apart.

Personally, I know that the Lord will bless obedience to Him and His Word. He will continue to grow and continue to change His children. But He most assuredly will bless His own. He has a sovereign plan for them. And when we finally see this plan we say to Him, “Oh Father in Heaven, how gracious You have been to me! What I thought was true was actually a mirage. You have shown me clearly now, and how marvelous this is! How real this is! How wonderful this is! How You have blessed me, How I don’t deserve Your grace. How I praise You for what You’ve done.”

Hear the words of wisdom from Elizabeth Prentiss who pens so beautifully the work of the Lord in the life of His children. The ways in which God changes us, I am still in awe. But oh how gracious He is!

“But you will imagine that it is best that He should at once enable you to see clearly. If it is, you may be sure He will do it. He never makes mistakes. But He often deals far differently with His disciples. He lets them grope their way in the dark until they full learn how blind they are, how helpless, how absolutely in need of Him. What His methods will be with you I cannot foretell. But you may be sure that He never works in an arbitrary way. He has a reason for everything He does. You may not understand why He leads you now in this way and now in that, but you may, nay, you must believe that perfection is stamped on His every act.”
