Let not Your Heart be Troubled.

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” – John 14:1-3

On the night that Jesus Christ was betrayed and given into the hands of wicked men, He spoke some of the most comforting words He would ever speak to His disciples. On a night that would be filled with trouble, the Lord said, ‘do not be troubled’. On a night where their belief in God would be sorely tested, the Lord said, ‘believe in God’. On a night where their Lord would be taken away from them and eventually be killed, the Lord said, ‘I am going away’. And when the disciples would feel like their whole world was caving in and falling apart the Lord would reassure them by saying, ‘I am coming again’. The words of comfort that Christ speaks in these three verses are words of comfort that can be securely held onto by the Christian today.

Dear Christian, do you need the comforting words of Christ in your life? Turn to these passages and listen to the gentle voice of Christ, who comforts those in confusion and despair. Christ’s words not only comfort us but they also give us great hope. Hope in our future with Him. We are comforted that He is now preparing a place for us in heaven, and we are filled with hope knowing that He is indeed coming back one day to take us to be with Him; forever! No matter what trouble this world brings across your path, do not let your heart be troubled dear one, because you have a great Saviour who promises that you are His.
